Biblical Feasts

God's holy prophetic rehearsals

As Christians, we’re familiar with holidays like Christmas and Easter, but what about God’s HOLY-days? The Bible reveals seven feasts or appointed times, which Jesus has already fulfilled four of. But what about the remaining three? Are they still relevant today?

The Origin of God’s Feasts

In Leviticus 23:2, God calls these feasts “My feasts” and consecrates them as HOLY. The Hebrew word “MOED” [מוֹעֵד] means “appointed time” or “meeting place,” connecting these feasts to God’s plan for humanity.

The Purpose of God’s Feasts

These feasts serve as signs or prophetic rehearsals, pointing to Jesus Christ and His mission. They were given to the Israelites before entering the Promised Land, and year after year, they would rehearse these appointed signs, awaiting the Messiah’s arrival.

Jesus’ Fulfillment of God’s Feasts

Jesus has already fulfilled four feasts:

1. Passover
2. Feast of Unleavened Bread
3. Feast of First Fruits
4. Feast of Weeks (Pentecost)

The Bible supports that He will fulfill the remaining three in the same detailed manner:

1. Feast of Trumpets
2. Atonement
3. Feast of Tabernacles

The Significance of God’s Feasts Today

Colossians 2:16-17 reminds us that while the feasts are important, our focus should be on Christ. The feasts are signs pointing to Jesus, not the destination themselves.

The Importance of God’s Calendar

Solomon writes in Ecclesiastes 3:1-10 that there’s a time and season for everything. Attending God’s appointments at the wrong time can be devastating. Satan wants the church to miss God’s appointments by giving them a different calendar. If the church misses the dress rehearsals of God, they might miss the next three important events on God’s calendar. Just as sign posts direct us to our destination, God’s feasts serve as sign posts, pointing us to Jesus and His plan. If we ignore or misinterpret these sign posts, we risk missing the arrival of our destination – the fulfillment of God’s promises.

Conclusion

God’s HOLY-days hold immense significance, serving as signs pointing to Jesus Christ. As Christians, it’s essential to understand and appreciate these feasts, recognizing their fulfillment in Jesus and their continued relevance today. By aligning ourselves with God’s calendar, we can ensure we don’t miss His appointed times.
